Preview: Ridgeway Roadrunners vs. Power Center Academy Knights

The Ridgeway Roadrunners's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Power Center Academy Knights at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Ridgeway was able to grind out a solid victory over Kirby, taking the game 76-67. Given Ridgeway's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Kirby is ranked 197th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Emanuel Allen was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Joshua Thornton, who scored 14 points along with four steals.

Power Center Academy suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Melrose by a score of 68-66.

The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Nazir Allen and Devin Sanders Jr. Sanders Jr had a great game and dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. Meanwhile, Allen was balling out in the loss, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds.

Ridgeway's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Power Center Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5.

Ridgeway strolled past Power Center Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2019 by a score of 71-55. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Power Center Academy's Jamari Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Ridgeway to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
