Football Recap: North Surry Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

North Surry unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 28-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alleghany Trojans on Friday. The Greyhounds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2019.

Cade Atkins and Beau Carson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Atkins threw for 147 yards and two TDs on only 12 passes, while Carson picked up 50 receiving yards and one score.

Damon Davis had a dynamite game For Alleghany., rushing for 117 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 60 yards.

Coming up, North Surry will challenge West Wilkes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Alleghany, they will face off against Grayson County on Friday.
