Recap: Lewis County Panthers vs. Big Sandy Red Devils
After flying high against the Hampshire Hawks back in December of 2023, the Lewis County Panthers came back down to earth. Lewis County's tough 71-50 loss to Big Sandy on Thursday might stick with them for a while.
It was another big night for Cole Pierpoint, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and ten rebounds for Big Sandy. The matchup was Pierpoint's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Nathan Merrell was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Lewis County now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Big Sandy, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
Lewis County will be playing at home against Perry County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Big Sandy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Houston County at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. The timing is sure in Houston County's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Big Sandy has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
