Basketball Recap: Balboa Takes a Loss

Balboa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the Minnesota Preparation Academy, TRIP Diplomat Lions. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Roughriders came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 24th in Florida, while the Diplomat Lions are ranked 162nd in Minnesota).

Several Roughriders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Apolo Caetano, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 17 points along with seven assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was BwaBwa Josue, who went 6-for-10 en route to 15 points and three blocks.

Balboa's loss dropped their record down to 11-24. As for Minnesota Preparation Academy, TRIP, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Balboa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 110-97 defeat against Victory Rock Prep on the 17th. Minnesota Preparation Academy, TRIP does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
