Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Maypearl

Maypearl came tearing into Saturday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Wimberley Texans as they made off with an 8-1 victory. Considering the Panthers have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Maypearl pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Wimberley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3-1.

Maypearl and Wimberley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Maypearl (ranked 168th) will meet Rice (ranked 886th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maypearl's pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so Wimberley's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Meanwhile, Wimberley will challenge Glen Rose at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday up 151 places (108 vs. 259).
