            Softball Recap: Lexington Tigers vs. Independence Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            Lexington's game  last Thursday was a  loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them  on Friday. They came out on top against the Independence Eagles by a score of  10-5. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the  contest before.
 Ashlynn Utley spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned  (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

 At the plate,  Devin Brown was  incredible,  scoring three  runs and  stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Those  two  stolen bases gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Kk Simko, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-4.
 Lexington  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  struck out at most four  strikeouts in nine consecutive  games.
Lexington's win bumped their record up to 13-6-1. As for Independence, their defeat  ended  a  three-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 8-6.
 Coming up, Lexington will face off against Bedford North Lawrence at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday. As for Independence, they will square off against Central Hardin at 3:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
