Basketball Recap: Boulder Comes Up Short

Boulder and Pueblo West squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Boulder had to settle for second. They lost to the Pueblo West Cyclones at home by a 73-54 margin. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Boulder lost, don't look at Cole Morrow. Despite the final result, he posted 23 points and six boards. That was a full 42.6% of Boulder's points, marking the fifth time in a row Morrow has scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lake Smith, who put up 16 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Boulder smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive contests.

Boulder's record now sits at 14-10. As for Pueblo West, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 14-10.

Boulder does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pueblo West, they are taking a road trip to take on Chaparral at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Chaparral is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.3 points per game this season.
