Basketball Recap: Brendan Daniels Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

Greenacres Christian hadn't done well against Somerset College Prep Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Greenacres Christian Panthers secured a 57-52 W over the Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered an 83-82 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Greenacres Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brendan Daniels, who went 10 of 19 on his way to 22 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. The matchup was Daniels' 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jashad Hymes, who posted 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Greenacres Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Somerset College Prep Academy had strong showings from David Horn, who went 5 of 6 en route to 12 points and three steals, and William Tracey, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Geovanny Martinez, who put up six points.

The victory made it two in a row for Greenacres Christian and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Greenacres Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on BridgePrep Village Green at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. BridgePrep Village Green will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Greenacres Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-34 win against Master's Academy on the 19th.
