Recap: Vail Mountain Gore Rangers vs. Hayden Tigers
The Vail Mountain Gore Rangers's game on Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against Hayden by a score of 46-33. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Vail Mountain also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Vail Mountain found their leader in underclassman Grant Iverson, who scored 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Iverson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Mills, who scored nine points.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Adrian Drew, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Cale Howard, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Vail Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Hayden, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vail Mountain and Aspen will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Aspen will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Hayden won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Plateau Valley at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Plateau Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches.
