Softball Game Preview: King's Academy Knights vs. Willow Glen Rams

The King's Academy Knights will head out to face off against the Willow Glen Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. King's Academy's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three contests, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

King's Academy managed to slip by Capuchino the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Knights came up short against the Mustangs on Thursday, falling 10-0.

King's Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Bennette, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Willow Glen put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their undefeated season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Branham a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Haley Ocumen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Katelynn Dilbeck was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Willow Glen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Willow Glen's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-0-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for King's Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
