Softball Recap: Reese Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Reese and Caro pushed the score to 15-4 the last time they played Caro, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Rockets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 3-0 shutout. While the Rockets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-30), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Not much got past Breelie Louis, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Caro off the board. Louis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grace Hall was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 games. Sydney DuRussel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Reese has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Caro, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Reese beat the Tigers by a score of 10-2 later that day.
