Baseball Game Preview: Rockingham County Cougars vs. Reidsville Rams

Rockingham County has gone a perfect 10-0 against Reidsville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Rockingham County Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Reidsville Rams at 7:00 p.m. Rockingham County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Rockingham County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Ben L. Smith a 34-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Cougars have beaten the Golden Eagles the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Golden Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Nate Revis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Luke Stritmatter was a standout: he scored five runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hudson Deel, who scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Rockingham County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Reidsville came up short against North Stokes on Friday and fell 8-4.

Reidsville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Martin, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Reidsville now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Rockingham County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
