Soccer Recap: Gretna Gets the Win

While Gretna's victory against Standing Bear wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dragons won by a goal and slipped past the Grizzlies 1-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 back in March.

Gretna's one-goal win came courtesy of Aspen Votruba, who's now up to three this season.

The win made it two in a row for Gretna and bumps their season record up to 4-7. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two games. As for Standing Bear, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gretna will challenge rival Elkhorn at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Standing Bear is set to face off against their familiar foe Conestoga at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
