After flying high against Georgia-Cumberland Academy on Tuesday, The King's Academy came back down to earth. The Knights fell just short of the Allatoona Buccaneers by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets The King's Academy lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 16-14.

Ayla Ringelberg paced The King's Academy's offense, picking up ten kills. Ringelberg got some help from Cara Richard and her 26 assists. Richard was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Allatoona can attribute much of their success to Bri Mcveigh, who had 11 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Mcveigh has posted since back in October of 2024. Ashlyn Jones also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

The King's Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Allatoona, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, The King's Academy and Allatoona will both be playing Mount Paran Christian the next time they take the court. The Knights will head out to face the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Buccaneers will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
