After flying high against Georgia-Cumberland Academy on Tuesday, The King's Academy came back down to earth. The Knights fell just short of the Allatoona Buccaneers by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets The King's Academy lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 16-14.

Allatoona had a senior duo take command as Bri Mcveigh had 11 digs and two aces and Chloe Fuchs had 11 digs and three assists. Those 11 digs set a new season-high mark for Mcveigh. Ashlyn Jones also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

The King's Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Allatoona, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, The King's Academy and Allatoona will both be playing Mount Paran Christian the next time they take the court. The Knights will head out to face the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Buccaneers will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
