Baseball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Dirigo's Winning Streak

Dirigo dropped their record down to 4-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Gray-New Gloucester Patriots, falling 6-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered since May 24, 2024.

Dirigo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Crosby, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Hudson Lufkin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Gray-New Gloucester, they now have a winning record of 4-3. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly six runs.

On Gray-New Gloucester's side, not much got past Liam Joyce, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Dirigo off the board. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Joyce.

At the plate, Gray-New Gloucester let Kobi Conant and Cole Thibodeau run wild. Conant got on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs, while Thibodeau went 1-for-2 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Mulry, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Coming up, Dirigo will welcome Mount Abram at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gray-New Gloucester, they will venture away from home to take on Telstar at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with the Patriots sitting on four straight wins and the Rebels on three.
