Pojoaque Valley typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Taos proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 77-69 victory over the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Elks/Elkettes two weeks ago, they had to take a 71-49 loss.

Pojoaque Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Luke Pacheco, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 15 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Joziah Salazar, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Taos is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. Pojoaque Valley's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-8.

Taos wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-59 win against Espanola Valley on the 28th. Pojoaque Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Taos at 6:00 p.m. on March 8th. Pojoaque Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Taos likes a good challenge.
