Softball Recap: Roosevelt Triumphs

While Roosevelt's victory against San Joaquin Memorial wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rough Riders won by a run and slipped past the Panthers 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Rough Riders in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Melaney Ortiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tamia Crawford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

Roosevelt's record is now 6-10. As for San Joaquin Memorial, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.
