Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Pinecrest

Pinecrest proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 14) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Laney Buccaneers 4-2. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 win the Buccaneers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Andrew Kirk looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Trythall, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.

Pinecrest pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Laney, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinecrest will host Richmond Senior at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 2.8, the Raiders 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Laney, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Hanover at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
