Basketball Preview: Arrupe Jesuit Generals vs. DSST: Montview Knights
The Arrupe Jesuit Generals will be playing in front of their home fans against the DSST: Montview Knights at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Arrupe Jesuit has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
On Thursday, Arrupe Jesuit beat the Pirates 57-46.
Arrupe Jesuit's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karen Alvarez, who scored 22 points along with six steals. Alvarez is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Atany Peter, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, DSST: Montview was the victim of a rough 47-23 defeat at the hands of the Bluedevils on Thursday.
Arrupe Jesuit's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for DSST: Montview, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Everything went Arrupe Jesuit's way against the Knights in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the Generals made off with a 67-45 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was DSST: Montview's Ayen Yiul, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
