Softball Recap: Hoover Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Independence

Hoover faced Independence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Huskies fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 6-5. The Huskies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Hoover's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 22-7. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Independence, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-10 record this season.

While Hoover had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
