Preview: Pueblo West Cyclones vs. Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs
Pueblo West is 10-0 against Pueblo Centennial since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Pueblo West Cyclones will look to defend their home court against the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Pueblo Centennial took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Pueblo West, who comes in off a win.
A well-balanced attack led Pueblo West over Pueblo East in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Pueblo West strolled past Pueblo East with points to spare, taking the game 48-30. The victory was just what Pueblo West needed coming off of a 75-29 loss in their prior game.
Pueblo West got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Trynity Martin out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Makenna McGraw was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Pueblo Centennial's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Pueblo County on the road and fell 66-19. While losing is never fun, Pueblo Centennial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Pueblo County is ranked 130th).
Pueblo West is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Pueblo Centennial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Pueblo West against Pueblo Centennial when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 57-28 win. With Pueblo West ahead 32-10 at the half, the game was all but over already.
