Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Letcher County Central

Letcher County Central entered their tilt with Shelby Valley on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 7-2. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Mason Boggs made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Riley Wright was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kolby Watts, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Letcher County Central's record is now 14-12. As for Shelby Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Letcher County Central will host Leslie County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shelby Valley, they will be playing at home against East Ridge on Saturday.
