Softball Recap: Hernando Beats Tarpon Springs for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Hernando waltzed into their match on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Tarpon Springs Spongers. The Leopards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by ten runs or more this season.

Hernando got a massive performance out of Ammarae Easton, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Covell, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Hernando always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.

Hernando's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Tarpon Springs, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hernando will welcome South Sumter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tarpon Springs, they will face off against Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spongers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
