Softball Game Preview: Cardinal Spellman Pilots vs. Mary Louis Academy Hilltoppers

The Cardinal Spellman Pilots will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the Mary Louis Academy Hilltoppers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cardinal Spellman is coming into the match on a nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Cardinal Spellman lost 14-2 to Archbishop Molloy on Wednesday.

Cardinal Spellman saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danielle Sanchez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Mary Louis Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Cardinal Spellman on Thursday, taking the game 8-3.

Syd Ambrosino was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. Ambrosino was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Mary Louis Academy got a big performance out of Avery Morgan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Kiarra Torres was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Mary Louis Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cardinal Spellman only posted an OBP of .318.

Cardinal Spellman's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Mary Louis Academy, their record now sits at 1-0.

Cardinal Spellman couldn't quite get it done against Mary Louis Academy in their previous meeting on Thursday as they fell 8-3. Can Cardinal Spellman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
