Volleyball Recap: Cape Fear Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Cape Fear was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Purnell Swett on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Colts lost 3-0 to the Gray's Creek Bears on Thursday. The Colts haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Cape Fear was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-18, 25-19.

Tabitha Newlin paced Cape Fear's offense, picking up 15 kills. Newlin got some help from Sophia Wilson and her 19 assists. Newlin also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Addison Gunter, each putting up three.

Among those leading the charge was Haylee Wells, who had eight digs and one assist. That's the most digs she has posted over her last six matchups. Ruby Minshew also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Cape Fear's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Gray's Creek, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Cape Fear didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Jack Britt on the 6th. As for Gray's Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Purnell Swett on the 7th.
