Softball Game Preview: Northwood Panthers vs. Chilhowie Warriors

Northwood is 0-8 against Chilhowie since April of 2023 but things could change on Thursday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Warriors at 5:00 p.m.

Northwood is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Patrick Henry.

Meanwhile, Chilhowie had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Tigers. The four-run effort marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Kylee Dancy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Dancy was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Madi Preston was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. Denessa Martin was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Chilhowie's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Northwood, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Northwood might still be hurting after the 22-0 loss they got from Chilhowie in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
