Basketball Recap: Rock Hill Falls Despite Big Games from Nigel Lightner and Kyriq Dickens

Rock Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 77-67 to the Clover Blue Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-48 back in December of 2024.

Rock Hill's loss came despite strong showings from Kyriq Dickens and Nigel Lightner. Dickens went 5 of 12 on his way to 17 points, while Lightner went 6 for 9 en route to 16 points. That's the most points Lightner has posted since back in November of 2023. Myles Brooks was another key player, putting up eight points.

Clover's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from George Stewart, who went 6 for 11 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Agard, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 18 points and seven assists.

Rock Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Clover, they pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Rock Hill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-53 loss against Carolina International on the 25th. Clover has also already played their next contest, a 59-49 defeat against Fort Mill on the 28th.
