Preview: Garaway Pirates vs. Northmor Golden Knights

Garaway has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Northmor Golden Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Garaway had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 49-7 victory over East Knox at home. Given Garaway's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 61st, while East Knox is ranked 353rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Garaway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dillon Soehnlen, who rushed for 99 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Jenson Garber did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 83 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Northmor entered their tilt with Trimble with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Northmor was the clear victor by a 31-6 margin over Trimble. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Northmor had established a 22 point advantage.

Northmor can attribute much of their success to AJ Bower, who threw for 154 yards and three touchdowns, and Carson Campbell, who rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Campbell was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards.

Garaway's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.93 points. As for Northmor, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
