Natalia hasn't had much luck against Lytle recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Natalia has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Natalia came up short against Hondo on Thursday, falling 16-2.
Natalia saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Arizola, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lytle waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Javelinas with a sharp 16-2 win. With that victory, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Weston Jackson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Lytle is undefeated when Jackson posts two or more runs, but 10-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, Lytle let Damien Barco and Mason Hill run wild. Barco went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Hill went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Barco a new career-high. Juan Patlan was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Lytle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .730. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lytle pushed their record up to 17-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Natalia, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.
