Recap: Reno Huskies vs. Clovis Cougars

It was a good run, but the Reno Huskies unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Clovis by a score of 61-59. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Reno came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in Nevada, while Clovis is ranked 434th in California).

Reno's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Harvey Smerdon, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Kipper Warmbrodt who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Casey, who scored nine points.

Reno's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Clovis, they pushed their record up to 10-7 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reno will take on Incline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Incline has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 380 points over their last six games. Clovis won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sanger at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th. One thing working in Sanger's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
