Softball Game Preview: North Pitt Panthers vs. Greene Central Rams

The North Pitt Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Greene Central Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Having struggled with 17 defeats in a row dating back to last season, North Pitt turned things around against Greene Central on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Rams 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since April 2, 2024.

Morgan Meeks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Farrah English, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Gracey Lilley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Greene Central is on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6. As for North Pitt, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
