Volleyball Recap: Gibault Catholic Falls Despite Big Games from BRYNN MOORE and AUBRY THOMAS

Gibault Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Marquette Catholic Explorers. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Explorers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Gibault Catholic was not able to win a set, but it sure wasn't from a lack of trying: every set was decided by exactly three points. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-22.

Gibault Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from AUBRY THOMAS and BRYNN MOORE. THOMAS had 19 digs and one assist, while MOORE had 19 digs. THOMAS has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Leading Marquette Catholic to victory were Alex Stephan and Stella Frost. Stephan had 22 digs and two assists, while Frost had eight digs and two aces.

Gibault Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Marquette Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-14.

Looking ahead, Gibault Catholic will take on Valmeyer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Marquette Catholic has already played their next match (against Granite City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
