Basketball Game Preview: Barstow Aztecs vs. Victor Valley Jackrabbits

Barstow is 2-8 against Victor Valley since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Barstow Aztecs will venture away from home to take on the Victor Valley Jackrabbits at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Barstow lost to Adelanto on the road by a 73-55 margin. While losing is never fun, the Aztecs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 838th, while the Saints are ranked 239th).

Meanwhile, Victor Valley suffered their biggest defeat since November 18, 2024 on Wednesday. They took a blow against Silverado, falling 69-41. The matchup marked the Jackrabbits' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Victor Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore JESIAH HYDER posted ten points. HYDER is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Victor Valley is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13. As for Barstow, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.

Barstow was taken down by Victor Valley 82-54 in their previous matchup on January 10th. Can Barstow avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
