Football Game Preview: Canadian Wildcats vs. Coahoma Bulldogs

Canadian is a perfect 3-0 against Coahoma since November of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wildcats will take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Canadian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 72-14 victory over Muleshoe. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Mules are ranked 751st).

Canadian found their leader in sophomore Weston Mitchell, who threw for 347 yards and six touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 34 yards and one score. Thanks to that big game, Mitchell is now up to 35 passing touchdowns on the season. Slayden Dickinson did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 151 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Coahoma waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bucks 75-20. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 54-0.

Canadian better focus on containing Austin Joslin and Aiden Rodriguez as the pair were huge in Coahoma's win. Joslin threw for 220 yards and five TDs on only 13 passes, while Rodriguez rushed for 136 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. The dominant performance also gave Joslin a new career-high in passer rating (151.4). Coahoma also got a significant boost from Masen Pierce, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.

Coahoma was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 333 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.

Canadian's record now sits at 10-1. As for Coahoma, their record is now 9-2.

Everything came up roses for Canadian against Coahoma when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 63-35 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Bulldogs' Jaidyn Vineyard, who rushed for 105 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 38 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Wildcats to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
