Volleyball Game Preview: Leuzinger Olympians vs. Hawthorne Cougars

The Leuzinger Olympians will head out to square off against the Hawthorne Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Leuzinger turned things around against Lawndale on Thursday. They came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 3-1.

Hawthorne not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11, 2024. They blew past Morningside 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won seven in a row.

Hawthorne didn't let Morningside take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 27-25, 27-25.

Leuzinger's record is now 11-4-1. As for Hawthorne, their record now sits at 3-16.

Leuzinger couldn't quite get it done against Hawthorne in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Olympians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
