Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sequoyah). They blew past the Webster Warriors 79-8 on Thursday. The win was just business as usual for the Indians, who after eight games remain undefeated this season.

Sequoyah was led to victory by Crayton Sapp and Ridge Blackbear. Sapp threw for 217 yards and five TDs on only 14 passes, while Blackbear rushed for 170 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Those 170 rushing yards gave Blackbear a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Hendricks, who picked up 68 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Sequoyah proved: they limited Webster to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Casen Leep for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sequoyah didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 13.5.

Sequoyah didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Alden Jones.

Sequoyah's record is now 8-0. As for Webster, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Sequoyah has already played their next matchup, a 54-0 victory against Westville on the 30th. As for Webster, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 56-12 loss against Metro Christian on the 30th.
