Baseball Recap: Valley Christian Beats Thatcher for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Valley Christian never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Thatcher Eagles as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Thatcher's batters probably weren't too happy with Devin Morganfield, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (he gave up a single walk). With that strong performance, Morganfield is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Caleb Danzeisen was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brock Jackson, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

The victory (which was Valley Christian's fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Thatcher, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley Christian will head out to square off against Apache Junction at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Prospectors have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Thatcher, they are taking a road trip to face off against Tanque Verde at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season.
