Softball Recap: Riverdale Takes Down Mercer County in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Riverdale walked away with it. They came out on top against the Mercer County Golden Eagles by a score of 6-3 on Thursday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 7-0 win two weeks ago.

Danika Saddoris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Breckin DeLaRosa, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.

The win made it two in a row for Riverdale and bumps their season record up to 26-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Mercer County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 21-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Riverdale nor Mercer County have any future games scheduled.
