Softball Recap: Lindale Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Lindale's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Kemp Yellowjackets 9-3. Considering the Eagles have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Morgan Keenright made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Makynli Zemer was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Merrick Gary, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

Lindale is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. Kemp's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11-1.

Coming up, Lindale will head out to challenge Brownsboro at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kemp, it'll be a Battle of the Bugs Kemp Yellowjackets challenge Athens Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Athens has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.06 runs per game on average), something Kemp will no doubt try to take advantage of.
