The McGavock Raiders will head out to take on the Cane Ridge Ravens at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. McGavock will be strutting in after a victory while Cane Ridge will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, McGavock turned things around against Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet on Friday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Royals.

Paul Benz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Montay Keel was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for McGavock: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cody Calvin, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Cane Ridge's offense. They lost 11-0 to Portland on Friday.

McGavock's record is now 4-9. As for Cane Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Everything went McGavock's way against Cane Ridge in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as McGavock made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
