Basketball Recap: Pine Crest Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Pine Crest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rowan Hoffman led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Hoffman is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Alex Jenkins was another key player, putting up 20 points and five rebounds.

Pine Crest was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sports Leadership & Management only racked up nine assists.

Despite the defeat, Sports Leadership & Management saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dennis Pierre Jr. went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points. That was a full 42.5% of Sports Leadership & Management's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamar James Jr., who scored four points.

Pine Crest's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Pine Crest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 84-64 victory against Somerset Prep on the 29th. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they will head out on the road to challenge Oxbridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th. Oxbridge Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 183 points over their last three contests.
