Football Recap: Leander Lions vs. Georgetown Eagles
If Leander was riding high fresh off their 43-14 takedown of Del Valle two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions were beaten by the Georgetown Eagles 58-27 on Friday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
Despite the loss, Leander still got an impressive performance from Mason Montgomery, who rushed for 63 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 109 yards on nine of 23 attempts. Dominic Jaramillo got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Leander's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Georgetown, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Leander will challenge rival Glenn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Georgetown is set to take on their familiar foe Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
