Football Recap: Leander Takes a Loss

Leander managed to slip by Georgetown the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lions took a blow against the Eagles on Friday, falling 58-27. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 560th, while the Eagles are ranked 132nd).

Despite the loss, Leander still got an impressive performance from Mason Montgomery, who rushed for 63 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 109 yards on nine of 23 attempts. Dominic Jaramillo got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Kaleb McDougle went supernova For Georgetown., throwing for 222 yards and five touchdowns. That's the most passing touchdowns McDougle has posted since back in August of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Walker, who rushed for 115 yards and a pair of TDs.

Leander's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Georgetown, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Leander wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 28-27 win against Glenn on the 3rd. As for Georgetown, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 56-7 victory against Chaparral on the 2nd.
