Basketball Recap: Yoakum Takes a Loss

Yoakum lost against Karnes City back in February of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Yoakum Bulldogs fell to the Karnes City Badgers 49-45. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Karnes City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JJ Beaver, who posted 14 points and three steals. Beaver is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Savion Nixon-Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Yoakum's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Karnes City, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-8.

Yoakum will challenge Industrial at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Karnes City, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bloomington at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Bloomington has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
