Baseball Preview: Alta Hawks vs. Orem Tigers

Ian Alvey looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.
On the hitting side, Nash Williams was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. McCoy Johnson was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and three runs.

Alta pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.63 runs across that stretch. As for Orem, their record is now 4-2.
Alta might still be hurting after the 13-5 defeat they got from Orem in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Alta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
