Basketball Game Preview: King's Academy Lions vs. Thomas Sumter Academy Generals

After both having extra time off, the King's Academy Lions and the Thomas Sumter Academy Generals will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Back in December of 2024, King's Academy had to suffer through a 49-11 loss at the hands of Pee Dee Academy. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now lost nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Thomas Sumter Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap back in December of 2024 as they fell 35-29 to Colleton Prep Academy. The match marked the Generals' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

King's Academy will have to contain Anna Bell as she made an impact in Thomas Sumter Academy's last game. She dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 blocks. The dominant performance gave Bell a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronia Sanders, who posted eight points and four steals.

King's Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

King's Academy came up short against Thomas Sumter Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 46-42. Can King's Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
