Basketball Recap: Winthrop Comes Up Short

Winthrop lost against Swampscott back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Winthrop Vikings took a blow against the Swampscott Big Blue, falling 75-29. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Big Blue are ranked 66th).

Winthrop dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Swampscott, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-4.

Winthrop is taking a road trip to take on Saugus at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Swampscott, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lynn Vo-Tech at 7:00 p.m.
