Softball Recap: Hobbs Eagles vs. Carlsbad Cavemen
It was a good run, but Hobbs unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Carlsbad Cavemen by a score of 16-14. Hobbs was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Carlsbad apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played on Friday.
Hobbs got a massive performance out of Edyth Chavez, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Anaya Rodriguez, who went 2-for-5 with a home run, five RBI, and a double.
On Carlsbad's side, Parris Weldon and Vianka Villa did most of the damage at the plate: Weldon scored three runs while going 2-for-4, while Villa scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Karis Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
Hobbs' defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-5. As for Carlsbad, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.
