Softball Game Preview: Polytechnic Panthers vs. Ramona Convent Tigers

The Polytechnic Panthers will face off against the Ramona Convent Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Polytechnic is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Polytechnic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They came out on top against La Salle by a score of 11-6. Polytechnic's victory was all the more impressive since the Lancers were averaging only 3.5 runs allowed on the season.

Amelia Shih spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Eila Chan was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kate Asperger, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Ramona Convent duked it out with Granite Hills on Saturday. The Tigers blew past the Cougars 13-7. Considering the Tigers have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ramona Convent got a massive performance out of Aiden Velazquez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Vazquez, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Ramona Convent hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.

Polytechnic's record is now 13-8. As for Ramona Convent, their record now sits at 18-9.
