Basketball Game Preview: Woodberry Forest Tigers vs. St. Anne's-Belfield Saints

Woodberry Forest is 0-10 against St. Anne's-Belfield since January of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Woodberry Forest Tigers will square off against the St. Anne's-Belfield Saints at 6:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Woodberry Forest took a blow against St. Christopher's, falling 75-47. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Saints are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, St. Anne's-Belfield waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They really took it to the Blue Devils for the full four quarters, racking up an 82-45 win. The game marked the Saints' most dominant victory of the season.

Woodberry Forest better keep an eye on Danzelle Bullock Coles. He was instrumental in St. Anne's-Belfield's win, dropping a triple-double on 14 points, 21 boards, and 15 assists. With that strong performance, Bullock Coles is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Austin Williford, who went 6 of 10 en route to 14 points and four steals.

St. Anne's-Belfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 28 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

St. Anne's-Belfield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Woodberry Forest, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Woodberry Forest ended up a good deal behind St. Anne's-Belfield when the teams last played back in February of 2024, losing 90-74. Can Woodberry Forest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
